The challenges, the farmers have faced at the moment is finding market. Every year Nepal imports agricultural products from India and abroad worth billions of Nepalese rupees. So, we believe there is huge market for agriculture products in Nepal. The only problem is identifying it. GCI will help find the market and cut the middleman. By doing this farmers will get good price for their produce and consumers will get the quality products for better price. GCI is planning to open several more organic outlets in Kathmandu, Pokhara and other major cities of Nepal. Some of the retailers have already started selling GCI’s organic products and have made loyal consumers as well. Similarly, GCI is already in process of exporting Nepali products to countries like Ireland, France, Hongkong, China, India, Malaysia and many more.
For the commercialization of organic products, it is necessary to increase its production and productivity. GCI aims to work directly with farmers, train them, provide technology, know-how, technician, fertilizer, seeds, support for marketing of quality products, increase the production and incomes. It is necessary to modernize the farming methods as well. At times the use of modern technology and machinery will help reduce the cost and increase the efficiency. GCI is working on to educate and aware consumers about healthy eating. We are certain that once consumers will start consuming more organic products demand for it will escalate and farmers will be encouraged to produce more. All the activities of value chain from the farmers to the consumers adds value to the products and services, we offer which will support the commercialization of agricultural sector in Nepal.
